I ran across this article by accident, one about Spanish actress Cecila Roth. I loved her in All About My Mother and I agree with the notion that there are many strong and sexy women over 40 that are much more compelling than the current crop of ingenue. (Helen Mirren, for example, is in her late 50’s and frequently prompts the “mrrrowwwr” noise from me when I see her on screen.) One very pleasant side effect of my efforts to learn Spanish is that one day I will be able to watch Almodovar movies minus subtitles and be able to appreciate them fully without the layer of abstraction.
