Here’s a review to a pair of books about Elvis. Of the two, the one I am interested in is The Colonel: The Extraordinary Story of Colonel Tom Parker and Elvis Presley. Amongst other things, this book points out that Colonel Tom was not what he pretended to be but was an illegal alien from the Netherlands and an army deserter. It really sounds like fascinating stuff, like how Parker kept Elvis from appearing in Midnight Cowboy. Imagine for a moment that with Elvis in it. Wow. I think this book is a must read.
