I saw the piece in BoingBoing about the auction of the assets of the Grand Royal label. The bid is at $15K, which is in the bounds of possibility. I feel this freaky pull that says “Hey, you could buy this and immediately be a record label, with Luscious Jackson master tapes and everything!” I know that it would be a poor way to make money, a dumb investment with the strong possibility of pissing all the cash away while following bad money with good. Still, there is this appeal to it. I’ll take the best of both worlds, I suppose, daydreaming about what it would be like if I did whilst not actually spending the money and having the issues of trucking inventory, storing inventory, actually having to do the work to sell it, etc.
