I find something a bit ironic that this friction within the Podcast Alley community came to a head with the introduction of some old school radio guys. Sure, there had been minor tiffs before, but quickly and easily resolved. This, I think, may well spell the end of referring to Podcast Alley as a legitimate source of info, as it is too easily skewed by “ratings-hungry” podcasters. Radio guys will always be amongst the most hungry for ratings. They are taught to be, it is how they make their money in radio.

I also think that part of the friction comes from podcasters naturally rejecting the imposition of the old system on this one. For the FTL guys, being number one isn’t a source of validation from the podcasting community, it’s a marketing ploy. They got some free publicity out of it and now want more. If I were them, I would want it to, though. They are one schtick change away from being morning show hosts. You know who I’m talking about, the type of guys we listen to podcasts to get away from.

      Hey, Dave:
She is *awesome*! Made a trip to the iTunes store the other day, and suffered a case of podcast interruptus tonight when I had to play Nancy the albums I downloaded. Between the two of us, we heard Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, Martina McBride, and Stacia Cushing, who used to play at the now-defunct, AFAIK, Eagle Inn in Wichita. And that was from one album, from Michelle.
We’re definitely buying more - from her store - so she’ll get more support.
BTW, the albums in question are “Stompin Ground” and “Lucky to be Live”.
I *do* wish, however, that someone would fix the SSL cert anomaly that occurs when accessing the store.
      Thanks! Man this is great!
      –Ken–
