Here is the Bittorrent link and direct MP3 download for the EGC clambake for May 5, 2005.

This is an experiment in a no-edit show. Let me know what you think. I talk about being on the Linux Link Tech Show last night; I play a live song from Michelle Malone; I talk a little more about KYOU and the Sirius/Podshow deal; I mention my experience with Ruby on Rails so far; I play a song by the Gentle Readers; I discuss whether I want to keep selling t-shirts after this next printing and how I have a dream of selling so many CDs that the Gentle Readers reform to record their fourth album; I thank Mike Dunn for buying me the Flickr pro acount(?!); bye.

This episode is sponsored in part by the fine folks at iPodderX! Don’t forget, you can fly your EGC flag by buying the stuff package.

      Dave,

I thought your show today was great; keep the editing out and more podcasts coming. I’m going to try to follow your lead on my show tomorrow,

      Cheers

the no editing works great dave - more shows less “anality” is that way to go ;)

my wife said that’s not a word - but you know what i mean…

Sounded good to me - only you are hearing the uhms, ahs and breaths… To us it sounds real as the rain. Keep it pouring brother! Great show, a joy to listen.

      Thanks,

Sounded very nice, I would not have noticed!

It sounded great. Why expend energy on editing?

      Dave,

I agree with the others. I’d prefer more frequent EGC, but in any case your show sounds fine without the extra effort of post-editing.

OK, ever single person that has given feedback has said the same thing. Expect no-edit shows to be the rule. As ground rules I’ll try to hit the pause on Wiretap for coughs, sneezes, phone calls I have to take, etc. Except for the most egregious things, I’ll leave everything in and just fade out the music for the songs, and otherwise leave the middle alone. This will cut at least an hour out of the process, maybe more, and will mean ultimately more shows.

      Thanks for the feeback, y’all.

Yep, I too enjoyed this show a lot more.

Also, where can I get that ‘live CD’ you speak of? ;-) There’s a few Eddie’s Attic recordings in her store.

Thanks for the great shows Dave!

I’m a bit behind on my podcasts (after 4.5hrs of the Daily Source Code in 3 episodes), so only just listened to this one - I must say the realism of a no-edit show is great.

One of the things I enjoy about this type of podcast is the “live” nature, it gives a much clearer picture of the speakers personality.
