Thanks to my friend Keith who IM’d me the link to this exhibit of photographs of luchadores from Mexico City. There’s a gallery I’d love to go to. How far is Venice from Ontario California? My guess is “too far.”

Ontario to Venice; about an hour. But then you never know with LA traffic.

      Dave,

I grew up watching the PR version of Mexican wrestling, with local and “foreign” luchadores. And by the mid 80s, my friends and I thought it was great stuff, still awesome to watch even though we “knew” the fighting was fake. We even did our own cheap masks for Halloween once.

My favorite from the bunch at that URL are “Hacha Asesina”, “Hijo de Ultraman”, and “Raziel”.

It’s funny to see a honky go crazy for this stuff. :-D

The Mexican wrestler photos that were featured in the Lucha Loco exhibit are going to be in a book of photography by Malcolm Venville - released November 2006. You can preview photos and transcripts at http://www.luchaloco.com.
