Sony Music - Wholesale Pirate

It just gets better and better with the Sony rootkit business. According to Downhill Battle, they used DVD Jon’s code in violation of his GPL, which makes it intellectual property theft. Yes, folks, Sony’s intellectual property is so important that they have to violate your actual property rights to protect it, and in fact they have to violate others intellectual property rights. They have burned and sold millions of disks with this code on it. That sounds like wholesale piracy to me. Thanks to Mark for the link.

[...] According to the Evil Genius Chronicles, when Sony decided to drop a rootkit onto your PC when you played one of their DRM’d CDs, they illegally used free open source code. So, to recap. We have Sony claiming that it needs to protect itself from theft. But to do this, they feel the need to help themselves to freely available OSS.
