Great interview; I really think that Simon has a great perspective on pushing forward into the New World of the music business. I really don’t think the present music industry understands that “mass” media has been totally fractured. Everything is unbundled…. It’s all in pieces. Steadman’s music is terrific! I still contend that I can’t download them with firefox, not even with DownThemAll. When I right click on any of the download links I get a file called download.pl, not the audio files as I do right clicking in IE. DownThemAll doesn’t find any mp3s on the page for me to download. Sounds like it maybe isn’t a firefox problem though and is something I have configured oddly.

I don’t know what y’all are talking about. I just went and right-clicked from Firefox and selected “save link as” and it did it. The links are right there so what exactly more do you want from them? I don’t experience any “lack of firefox friendliness.”

Justin….I went through the same routine.
there’s a cool extension “Down them all” (written downthemall) that lets you download audio files on firefox without the browser trying to play them.

Phew… The songs are actually downloadable, just not from Firefox, or at least not with anything I was trying. Using IE I had no problems right clicking and using “save as”. Right clicking in firefox wasn’t working for me. Anyway, I can’t fault them anymore for not living up to what they were saying in the interview. I can only fault them for not making the download process more firefox friendly. Sorry if this discussion with myself has taken up too much space here Dave (or should I call you Mr. Genius?).

I once again really enjoyed the interview, an introduction to a great band, and listening to some good songs. I do have to say however that I am disapointed in the “downloads” from their site. They aren’t actually downloads that you can save and put on your mp3 player; they are songs you can only play from your browser… Or am I missing something? I was just very suprised to hear all they said and then find out that I can’t actually take the songs and listen to them at my convenience when I would actually give them a good listen. Anyway, hope I am just a putz and someone will tell me what I am doing wrong.

Great interview, and kudos to BB for brokering the deal. I’d read a little about the band at Mark’s site; I’m working my way forward and backward through his podcasts.

Simon’s photo reminds me for all the world of Donny Osmond.

Good interview/good questions. I thought your proposed fan club business model was a good one. Hopefully more bands will adopt that kind of model. You told me before who you “felt” he looked like so I’ll keep your secret, but add I don’t really think he looks that much like the person you said. So I’m curious to see if anyone else comments.
