D, I am posting this tidbit here after searching your blog for pandora.com. I figure folks whose opinions I respect will see this and comment and edification will ensue.

A good friend of mine asked me to look at
http://blog.pandora.com/pandora/archives/2007/04/launch_of_saven.html and sign a petition protesting statutory licensing rates for digital transmittance of copyrighted music.

I tried to read up on this a bit at http://www.savenetradio.org/about/index.html. The issue seems to be disagreement between an organization representing artists on one side and various broadcasters on the other who are disputing royalty rates set in legislation passed in 2005.

Savenetradio.org does not make a compelling case. I want them too. Perhaps their resources to do so are lacking.
The sample letter says "I respectfully request that Congress look into this matter and take action to prevent it." If I send this, what specifically am I asking a Congress person to do? Can you imagine any Congress person taking the time and effort to say, "Oh, our bad. I'll alter that rate section of the Copyright legislation that a majority (probably only some of which knew to be aware of the implications) signed off on 2 years ago."

The horses's mouth of this issue is http://www.loc.gov/crb/proceedings/2005-1/rates-terms2005-1.pdf.

I feel pessimistic of any change being made in favor of small netcasters. Probably 2004 was the year to make a difference.

It is a torrent here, http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=75888&hit=1

You have to join the service before you have access to any of these and they limit membership to (I think) 10,000 so I had to try a few times before I could join.

Yes indeed...there were little tykes moshing to our tunes at the Eyedrum. They seemed to be having more fun than our opening act, The Chiltons, from Aiken, SC, who seemed to be disappointed with the proceedings. I can't blame them. If I was 15, playing my first punk show in the big city, with a supposedly legendary band, and the extent of moshing was the headliner's toddlers, well, you know. To that, I say "sorry", but we're O-L-D. Maybe if they had been to the Star Bar show. Just the same, it was a lot of fun. Both shows. It may well happen again. If not, there will be a DVD out later this year. Stay tuned to nx.motherbuster.com

Oh, Pandora, I fell into that for hours one day recently ...

Neon Christ played two reunion shows in Atlanta last weekend. Due to horrible boss-created circumstances involving me having to be at my job on a Sunday afternoon, I missed their all-ages afternoon show at Eyedrum that I had planned to attend, but I heard that it featured very young children moshing (think toddler kids of punk scenesters). How cool is that?

I hear you, for the EGC family I offer this link which is "my net epiphany for the day." http://pandora.com
This is super-cool internet radio where the user generates the stations via song or artist selections. Pandora then uses its "Music Genome" technology to generate other choices similar to your choice. You can share your stations via e-mail with friends. Think, AmigoFish Radio.
