Here is the Bittorrent link and direct MP3 download for the EGC clambake for March 20, 2006.

On this show, I play a song by Coconut Monkeyrocket; we have the first part of our talk with the Reverend Ivan Stang of the Church of the Subgenius; I play a song by Exene Cervenka and the Original Sinners; I talk about the spirit of punk and the idea of “that ain’t punk” and from there segue into discussing criticism with words where a little action would do better; I play an unreleased track from Jill Sobule and limp out of the show.

Dude, don’t ever hold back on the “punk theology” discourses. I love that stuff-new Exene link made my day. Last time I saw her.. I don’t want to talk about it. Exene not only was married to Viggo M. but had a child with him. She had to leave Los Angeles…

Superb interview man! You MUST play the rest. Rev. Stang has to be our favorite guest you’ve spoken with on EGC. Did you discuss the Magdalen case with Stang?

“Bob lives among all of us, so reach deep inside and touch him… Just as long as your hand stays out of the ass.”

This rocked! i remember first discovering the Subgenius stuff when i watched re-runs of Night Flight and that was just phenominal that you were able to get an interview with him and that the Subgenius movement was still going strong…oh and the music rocked too. i definately should have been subscribed sooner.

      peace out

You played Coconut Monkeyrocket last fall and I loved it. I hope this is a different song.

Last year you bummed me out when you repeated Gentle Readers and Siderunners songs on EGC quite a bit. But you’ve been good the last nine months, so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. :-)

As for Rev. Stang and Subgenious stuff, I guess it’s an acquired taste. The Subgenious feeds you host, the content just wasn’t my thing. Maybe this interview will change my opinion or will enlighten me enough that I’ll start acquiring the required taste to enjoy the feeds. Blah, I don’t know what I’m saying. :-)
