Google Reader Shared Links

So does anyone care about my Google Reader shared links? I like having that little doojig in the sidebar, but I don’t know if anyone else actually cares. It does a pretty decent job of giving insight into what type of things are on my mind at the time. I’m liking Google Reader so far. I haven’t fired up NetNewsWire since I started using it.

I like it, Dave. In fact, I’m not only going to subscribe, but I think I’ll start using mine as well. I had been just starring things that I wanted to go back and review, but I’m going to start sharing most of them instead. Like you said, gives an insight into what I’m interested in right now.

I’m in agreement about Google Reader, too. I haven’t gone back to Sage since I started using the new version…very nice. I dig not having to keep multiple readers in sync, or marking things as read constantly, yada yada.

i agree w/ ken, i’ve been subscribed to yours and few of my other friends - it makes a good linkblog…

also agree w/ the greader being my default now - haven’t gone back to bloglines once since making the commitment to it…

btw - mine is here http://www.google.com/reader/shared/18036986648739082859 though i also use del.icio.us and add those into my site’s rss feed - i sort of like having both since the greader tends to be posts from the feeds i subscribe to and del.icio.us links tend to be a little bit of everything (blogs & msm) but mostly a lot of serendipitous stuff…

I like it. I subscribed to yours, which is a really neat way of seeing what topics people are interested in but don’t have something to say about.

      FYI, mine is http://www.google.com/reader/shared/05970221413967934010

So what is the code for the little “doojig” on your page—or am I going to have to script it myownself?

Randy, nope. If you go to your administration page for you shared links it gives you the javascript right there. I don’t care enough to code this up myself, that is for sure.

D, K, M - That’s good to know. I’ll keep doing it. I subscribed to both Mike and Darusha’s shared feeds. I’m not exactly sure how it will look when I’m looking at other people’s Google Reader shares through my Google Reader. Will it show up as from your shared feed, or just look as if I were subscribed to the item in question? If I reshare that, how will it look? It’s all kind of interesting.

I’ll chime in. I like having the feed because it gives me a chance to discover articles I wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to. I found myself wishing tonight that I had more of these feeds in my reader.

FWIW, The only reason I haven’t given up NNW completely yet is because of how it handles podcasts. For podcasts that I only want to download occasionally, or for those podcasts where the feed is blended (blog posts & podcasts together), I find NNW is still superior to iTunes or G-Reader. I just wish it was aware of my read/unread state on either of those. Now, that’d be cool.

Dave - I like it so far. Still trying it out. It looks like they show up as another subscribed feed.

Yes, I do Dave. Not so much the sidebar widget though. I have your shared links as one of my Google Reader subs. I’ve already posted much love for Google Reader in a comment to a previous post in your blog so I’ll just add that I am still using it exclusively and very happy with the choice!
