Oh come on John, are you referring to 'The 4-Hour Work Week'? This is indeed a very good book, in fact I have a copy of this one (before it's out of stock). Good for me I ordered in advance.

I'm actually not active on Twitter (not even once) but I just sometimes read some interesting forums. Anyways, no matter people engaged in such are irrelevant, as long as the topic relates you, then go..share your own ideas.Right?

[...] Micro-blogging? I just don’t understand it, and apparently I’m not the only one. I’m barely able to make the time to blog here twice a week it seems. To me, it’s just another channel in a list of channels I can barely keep up with. My RSS reader is packed with posts days behind, and iTunes currently lists 187 (!) podcasts I have yet to listen to. [...]

I'm most familiar with twitter in some webcomics. Looks harmless but that's just me looking at what goes on in my favorite artists' heads. Looking from the outside suits me perfectly.

I was surprised that Dave saw Tim Ferriss' presentation at SXSW. I wasn't there but I've met Tim a few times. If you're looking for more reeling, here's a website of Tim's. I heard that he's releasing a book that in essence is the same as the presentation. www.fourhourworkweek.com.

Could work for some people or maybe it won't, but the blogs are certainly amusing. And informative.

Cheers!

[...] (it’s one more reason why I’m not drawn to twitter– as Dave Slusher says (slightly differently), my continuous partial attention is continuous enough, partial enough, and inattentive enough as it is. What, honey? Did you say something to me? [shakes head] oh, sorry. yes, I’m stepping away from the computer now. [...]

i actually had a different reason for not joining twitter originally when it first started - the folks doing it were mostly west coast and for the most part people i knew of but didn't know personally (other than ross mayfield)...

so i ignored it because the people engaged were irrelevant to me as well as for the exact same reason you did dave - way to much going on and not needing another distraction...

but then a friend invited me - someone whose blog i read, podcast i listen to, im and email w/ - who i have meet w/ from time to time - namely a part of my extended community - so this just seemed like one more way to stay connected...

once i joined other friends popped up - globally, location didn't matter nor did timezone - the key for me is to not track it constantly, ping when you feel the need and catchup w/ your friends during idle time that's what works for me...

definitely not for everyone - i was surprised that i liked it, mostly because i like staying connected to friends in the sort of stream of conversational manner that it allows...

just be forewarned though, if you do give in and join and then add spin/eric rice - that guy is prolific but you already knew that huh ;)

Amen.

I thought Twitter might make for an interesting platform for public fiction, and it probably would, but I don't have the patience for it.

other than that, it's a mystery why people like it. To each his or her own, I guess.
