Here is the direct MP3 download for the EGC clambake for June 29, 2008. I play a song from Chris Christensen and Mark Schultz; I talk about the Reality Break podcast and tell some tales from the radio show that preceded it; I mention a little bit about the class I taught and what the proceeds are going to buy; I play a song from the incredible Gentle Readers and then gamble into the sunset.

Sorry to post this here, I didn’t see a place on the Reality Break page for comments… anyway, I just wanted to say that at the start of the RB cast you are talking about retro culture and two things that I have been noticing more and more are the return of The Roller Derby and the return of burlesque… mostly coming from member of Gen X

Hey Dave, I’m glad to hear you’ll be reviving Reality Break. I’ve been reading more Sci-Fi this year than ever before; even bought a few issues of Asimov’s and Analog…

      Currently reading:

Singulariy Sky, by Charles Stross. I’ve never heard of Stross, but I spotted this book at a library and picked it up for 50 cents. So far, worth every penny! (Okay, that wasn’t intended to be a put-down; I just barely started reading the book. Actually, I’m enjoying it so far.)

      Best recent Sci-Fi read:

The audiobook version of Idlewild, by Nick Sagan (Carl’s son). Read brilliantly — I forget the voice actor’s name, but he really did an excellent job on this. If you want a copy of the audio, let me know, I can give you mine.

Loved the Chris Christensen and Mark Schultz song. I may get beat up for saying this, but it reminds me of Rush around the late 70's.

No beating up. It doesn't sound like Rush to me but I do like it.

liked it too - had a more country rock feel to me though - I'm going to add it to my snowboarding/mtb playlist
