Disconnecting

We’ll be on vacation next week in a cabin sort of environment near (but not in) Asheville. We won’t have internet in the room, which isn’t necessarily a problem to me. We’re taking the dog because the place has doggie day care, and we’ll be taking him with us to dog friendly state parks. All in all, it seems like a really good time. I could handle a little decompression time.
It’s a little sad that I’m thinking about this in terms of things to do. I’m looking at stacks of books to take and thinking about writing projects I could work on during that off time. I don’t idle well, and even when I’m doing nothing I want to be doing something. Even so, there should be much relaxation involved. We seldom take full week vacations, usually just long weekend getways, so this should be good.

Good for you, Dave -- I struggle to idle as well. I went camping a few weeks back and there was cell service out there...not good for relaxation purposes at all. I was on the BB the whole time. Bad, bad, bad. Enjoy your disconnection!

Have a fun and relaxing time, Dave. We'll make up stuff about you while you're gone. *grin*

Once when I was a 20something I took a 2 weeker ,spent all my money, came back and was fired. I didn't take a vacation for like 8 years because of the trauma of that. I met my wife, a HUGE traveler, and my life changed for the better (of course) and now I appreciate all the vacation time I get. Internet or not! Go, Enjoy it like it was you last! <- in a Carpe Diem kinda way.

...sometimes you have to disconnect to reconnect. :P

Thanks y'all. The plan is to hike, go to swimming holes with the dog, do a little touristing in Asheville. The agenda should be sparse.

Those are best kind of agendas.

Don't know if you've been to Asheville, but there's a bunch of good Mexican food downtown. Mamacitas is a great little mexican joint.

Paul, we've never been. We have one day in Asheville proper unless we change plans, so we'll probably have one lunch and maybe an early dinner. Restaurant recommendations are appreciated because we are trying to get the most bang out of those two meals.

I'd liken Mamacitas to Sun City... but with better service :o)
