Kreg, I always cite podcasting as being much like the fanzines I published in the 80s. Other than the medium and distribution, the creative DIY urge and the things we talked about and how we felt doing it is very much the same. Substitute Libsyn for Kinkos and there you have it.

I make it a point of every con getting out into groups I don’t know and talking to them. It is good to break out of our in-crowd bubble now and then. Playing the game with the strangers was more commitment than usual but I try to always do that sort of thing.

Great Show! I loved your story about recording to cassettes and mailing them off. It’s like you described podcasting as we would have done it in the 30’s or something. Using inexpensive equipment and mailing the audio off.

On another note..I myself went down Sunday night by myself and to the Marriott lobby. It was a strange feeling to be alone, yet with tons of people I didn’t know. I drank a few beers, and talked to some people I didn’t know from Adam…had a blast. Goes to show it is good to extend and stretch yourself some outside of the normal circles.
